2Not so safe...  Feb 08, 2007
By Christa Hill
I bought six of these collars for my five cats. (I bought an extra just in case one of the cats lost one.) I thought the colors were great, and I was happy with the idea of the material, as opposed to cheap vynil. They do look fashionable, I think, and are discreet enough to not take away from the beauty of the cat itself. However, these collars are NOT "breakaway" collars. They enlarge if they get caught on something, but this actually only adds its own problems. Several times my cats came home with one leg through the collar (and the collar extended as far as possible). I hated to think what would have happened if the cat had gotten the collar caught on something AFTER getting the leg stuck. One cat finally did come home without his, and I didn't replace it. Another came home with the collar around her chest (both front legs had gone through), and it was constricting her. I pulled to try to get it off, but it was obviously very painful, and in the end the only solution was for me to cut it off. I decided these collars are not very safe after all--too bad I bought six at once (the reviews at the time were pretty good, generally). I've taken them all off, and now my daughters can play with them on their stuffed animals. They look do look cute! I just don't trust them on live animals.

5Finally, a cat collar that works!  May 28, 2006

I bought three of these collars for my cats because we're moving and I want them to have IDs.
In the past, I've tried the wider collars with the safety snap. When I put those on, the cats would wiggle and squirm trying to get the collar off and with the safety snap they eventually unlatched them. Plus, the width of other collars tends to mat the hair around their necks.
This collar, so far, is far superior. Two of my cats were hesitant about having something go over their head, but once the Safety Collar was on, they haven't thought twice about it. They haven't tried to get them off or scratched at them, it doesn't seem to bother them at all and since these collars are so thin, the fur on their necks aren't suffering.
The sliding motion of the collar is easy to move back and forth yet secure enough to stay in place with regular use. The colors are very vibrant. I got Mango Orange, Maui Blue, and Tulip Red but unfortunately, since my cats have long hair the color gets lost in their fur. But that doesn't take anything away from how much I love these collars.
If your not sure, these are inexpensive enough to give a try! If you need to put a collar on your cat, I think these are one of the best options available!

5Stylish and Functional  Sep 24, 2006
By Lisha Burton
This is a fabulous product and the only collar my cats will wear. After a couple of hours they forgot it was there and that alone gives me peace of mind in that I know they won't attempt to pull it off.

5This is the BEST kitty collar around!!  Jun 16, 2006
By M. Gambrelli
We adopted a feral cat. The vet said to get the elastic kind but he HATED that and kept scratching and then "glaring" at us. When I finally took the collar off, all the fur was gone and his poor little neck was just bare skin where the collar had been. I then bought one of these and while he didn't like it while I was putting it on (who can blame him after the last one?), he got used to it immediately! He hardly knows it's on and we have peace of mind knowing our information is there in case he gets lost. Plus it's a safety collar and adjustable so you can't go wrong. This collar is light but you can still see it. Can't recommend it highly enough.

5Long time fan, first time reviewer  Aug 02, 2011
By Alex
I've used these collars for a few years, and I finally got around to writing a review.

First, let me say that I read the reviews thoroughly before making my first purchase. I have seen no quality issues and some of the other complaints expressed by other reviewers. Specifically, the breakaway latch is as secure as needed, not too loose and not too tight. The adjustment clamps are also just fine, not too slippery so my cats can't loosen them by pulling, and not too tight that I can't easily adjust the size.

I have a shorthair that is a grooming expert. She is capable of finding even the smallest imperfection in her coat, and as a result she is the bane of any normal collar. I decided to try these collars as she destroyed a couple other types just by pulling/chewing on them.

The collar performs as advertised. It sits on the body in such a light manner that the cat isn't even aware it's there. In fact, the only way the collar sees any action is if the name tag hangs too low (my fault, I used a couple rings as opposed to just attaching it to the collar directly) and she can catch it when she grooms her chest. Otherwise, even when her sister grooms her head and neck area, they hardly pay attention to the collar. Speaking of her sister, she is a long hair (medium coat, not quite the cousin It of the cat world) she has personally tested the breakaway function. In fact, thanks to the bright color of the collar the landscaping service for my neighbor saw it and called me to let me know they found it. Only collar I ever used that I ever got back after the cat lost it.

In conclusion, great product, good quality, and perfect for any cat that has problems with the wider collars.
