 Nice feeder, but beware of corners Aug 06, 2010

I really enjoyed this feeder for a long time, mainly because it has such a large capacity and many birds can fit around it, and it seemed sturdy. However, one day I walked out to refill it and found a dead finch hanging by its little foot from it. Its talon had become caught in a tiny gap between the corners of the lip, where two sections of the lip join. I can't imagine the agony that poor birdie endured before finally dying. I taped up the gap, but really, felt like throwing the thing away.
Just make sure there are no hidden hazards when you purchase this product.

This feeder holds a great deal of seed and the shape allows the birds to feel less threatened by the other diners. I've had everything from Gold Finches to Cardinals and Grosbeaks at this feeder. I would have awarded five stars if the company made the seed tray easier to clean with larger and more drainage holes. We drilled extra holes so the snow and/or rain soaked seed does not clump and make a mess. All in all, though, I'd highly recommend this feeder. Very sturdy and remains attractive with no fading, intact perches, etc. in almost 3 years.

This feeder is a bird lovers dream come true. The large capacity feeder means that you won't be filling it every day. The birds love the perch that is provided around the base of the feeder. It is a very sturdy feeder and will last for years. I have recommended it to all of my friends! No yard should be without one.......or two!

I have had this bird feeer for several years and it has held up nicely. My favorite parts about this feeder are its high capacity and ease of cleaning. I have several other feeders but this one is my favorite.

We have been using this feeder for years and the birds love it. Unfortunately we have some problems with bear and they keep breaking it. Every time we have bought a replacement there have been design changes. The last change was to the mounting sleeve for placing it on top of the pole. The new method of an l-bracket combined with a v-bracket is clumsy make the feeder incompatible with the original pole. It would be much better if they went back to the original design. It still is a good hanging feeder, but the pole mounting options may the feeder too difficult to deal with.
