Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter 10I with BioScrubber, 3 to 10-Gallon

For the ultimate in convenience and quiet, choose a Whisper In-Tank Filter. These filters mount on the inside of the aquarium, rather than hanging from the outside -- making it possible to place the tank flush against a wall. In-Tank Filters are unusually quiet, since the motor is under the water. Offering the same quality and performance as an external filter, the Whisper In-Tank Filter will function in as little as 2 inches of water -- making it ideal for turtle tanks, or for creating a waterfall inside the tank. The Whisper In-Tank filter features adjusts easily to high or low water levels with mounting suction cups and/or bracket. Each filter comes with one pre-assembled Whisper Bio-Bag filter cartridge.

5Great 10 Gallon Aquarium for Amateur or Beginner or Even Professional  Feb 01, 2009
By Muhammad A. Zahari "The Fish Fanatics"
I just received the item from [...] yesterday. It comes with a 10 gallon glass aquarium, whisper power filter 10,biobag filter catridge, fluorescent bulb, and also a small sample of AquaSafe and TetraMin food flake from Tetra. These are reasons why you should have this aquarium to start with:

1)The 10 gallon deluxe kit is all complete set to start with. I opened up the box, unpacked everything, read the manual for minutes and poof, my aquarium is all-ready! The filter is smooth, quiet and works efficiently.

2)The fluorescent light is all enough to lighten every angle of your aquarium. It can also gives some heats to your aquarium and really looks shining and bright during the nights.

3)After running it for a day, I add the gravels, live plants, Tetra AquaSafe to treat the tap water, also i bought a bacteria supplement from pet store to introduce the tank with useful bacterias.

4)After finishing step 4, I went to PetSmart and bought 4 guppies. I put them all in the aquarium and they swim in it happily. The temperature is already around 68-74F, without using heater. So, the fish are happy.

Conclusions, this Tetra 10 Deluxe kit is awesome! Buy it for your kids or yourself for full satisfaction!

4beware of suction...  Jun 22, 2008
By Frog mom "african frog babies"
I have two African dwarf frogs and was missing a frog one night.
I could not find her. I finally found her in the filter.
I have now learned through reading other web sites; it's best to put pantyhose or cheesecloth over a part of the filter, (use common sense on watching how it does filter so the filter will still do it's job) to protect your frog from becoming stuck.
My girl was saved.
The filter does work, just be careful and aware if missing an aquarium baby.

2Difficult to attach to aquarium wall, becomes loud after a few months of use  Feb 08, 2012
By Liz Darcy
To start off, I'd like to say that this filter doesn't do a bad job with actually filtering the water. In fact, for a month, without water changes, it kept the water crystal clear in my 10 gallon tank. However, when I finally cleaned the tank after a month, I discovered an insane amount of debris in the gravel and had to do a full water change, which was okay only because I use that tank for a betta. It is possible that I just had bad gravel in there at the time and no filter actually sucks out of the gravel, but I feel as though so much debris shouldn't have accumulated at the bottom.

That being said, there are other filters that can do the same while not being problematic in the following areas like this filter is:

1) The suction cups on this filter are terrible. In addition to that, its design is horrible. Basically there's no way of raising the lip of this filter high enough to keep your water level all the way to the rim of the tank. And the suction cups can't seem to properly support the weight of this filter, so it will often fall off.
2) It looks ugly and consumes a lot of space in the tank. The reason I'm taking appearance into account is because the whole purpose of having an aquarium is so that it looks nice. When you place a large bulky object into it, it won't look aesthetically pleasing at all.
3) After only a few months, I began to notice that it keeps alternating between being quiet and loud. So for some time you will hear nothing and then suddenly you start to hear this loud humming noise. Then, after five minutes of making this obnoxious noise it will quiet down again. This is probably my biggest problem with the filter.

My suggestion is to buy the Aquaclear 20 for 10 gallon tanks. It is a much more complex filter and it hangs over the side. The motor is quiet and the intake tube doesn't create the strong current that this filter creates as its sucking water in. It costs a few dollars more, but is totally worth it.

5best kit ever!!  Mar 02, 2011
By jordan louie
i work at a fish store and i have alot of expertise when it comes to products.... when it was time for me to get an additional 10 gallon tank i knew i was going to get "the tetra 10 gallon tank kit"...

also it is cheaper because it has everything in it (except for the heater)

1.The fluresent* light bulb lights up everything
2.PF 10 filter (which is okay for beginners, doesnt have water flow control)
3.Samples of the food and conditioner

the only thing i might do is upgrade the filter to a 20 aqua clear but thats in the future.

I had the kit for about 5 months now and its working great have no problems, i have 2 koi anglefish and 7 rummy nose tetras and some gardini killies and albino dwarf frogs and none of the had died since i got them...(the trick is to let the tank cycle long to grow beneficial bacteria)
