1BEWARE!!!! Death of Dog  Sep 20, 2011
By Carlo
Theraneem Pet Shampoo, 12 OunceWithin a week of using this and Theraneem Organix shampoo, our beloved dog died from convulsions and severe central nervous system problems. She had just had a wellness check with her vet in August--and she had been found in excellent health.

After using these products, within 3 days she began having seizures--along with severe central nervous system dysfunction, ataxia, confusion, and brain damage. Her kidneys also failed. Repeated efforts by various veterinarians could not save her. She died tragically on 9/19/11. Our family is devastated.

We googled "neem oil poisoning" and "neem oil side effects" (much too late to save our dog) and found various sources that confirm the ingestion of this oil can cause seizures, irreversible CNS dysfunction and brain damage, liver and kidney failure, Reye's syndrome, and then possible death. There is additional documentation in Indian pediatric journals relating these symptoms in humans as a result of neem oil ingestion/poison. There is NO KNOWN ANTIDOTE for neem oil poisoning!!!

My dog did not orally ingest the neem oil. The shampoo was applied and then a very small amount of the oil was used as recommended/directed by the neem oil manufacturer. We believe this was enough to trigger her seizures and result in her horrific death.

The instructions on the bottle of neem oil state that it can be applied UNDILUTED up to two times a day--and on broken skin where it will be even more rapidly--and dangerously-- absorbed into the dog's body! There is no restriction as to how much to use or where to apply it. Neem oil should only be applied using the correct dilution ratios. There is no cautionary wording to keep this away from children. No safety cap. The list could go on about the abject failure and lack of cautionary advice from the manufacturer.

Perhaps not all pets will react in this way--but we cannot encourage everyone enough to use the utmost caution when using any product that contains neem oil. Inform yourselves of the dangers--do not just listen to the promotion that these products are entirely non-toxic. Neem oil contains a deadly poison and is used as an insecticide/pesticide.

We had to give this item one star in order to post this review--zero stars would have been more appropriate. We will never be the same after witnessing our beloved dog descend into such misery and fright as she spent her last days dying in such a terrible way. We can only hope that others will be forewarned and that her death will not be in vain. We will never forget this--and will always grieve her tragic loss.

5.... a spot on flea treatment for my cats....  Mar 27, 2008
By S. barnes
all I can say ,is that my 3 cats no longer have fleas.and one still escapes to the outdoors, like a bat out of h....,anyway ,I use this with a dropper on the back of their necks, once a month undiluted, it spreads in the skin like the poison drops from the v... and store....,.I did my research on google on "how to use neem on cats" before I gave to my cats. Researched for a few days, hours of reading. I'm happy with the results-thankyou ....."RICHARDS ORGANICS" FOR YOUR PRODUCT.- ...now it's, 6/2/08 I used it,during a bad flea infestation. I used it straight,my grey cat was bald in the hind area with scabs and , now skin has healed, she gained weight,no more biting and pulling out fur. These fleas tried to kill my cats."Azadirachtin" is the chemical in neem ,this starves the flea and other parasites, thats how it works. It smells aweful, but after 3 days it soaks in and fades away.It smells rancid ,the pros out -weigh the cons.one more thing I put ,literally ,one drop of the stuff on cats during the infestation..my cats lick it off-thats fine ,it'll kill internal parasites too.Dead white thingys come out of the bunghole end ,LOL.This stuff is great! If my cats were to show signs of illness I would stop using and go to a vet. I prefer to go all natural,a vet is used to "fix" them and for illness that has no natural remedy.

4Stinky but works!  Feb 01, 2010
By S. Lemke
I bought this for my sons guinea pig. He had a bad itchy rash all over his body. I got the suggestion off a website. It cured "Chewy's" ringworm right away. It smells pretty bad though. But if you can handle a little skink then this product works.

5Smells and works like it should!  Aug 04, 2009
By Terence Tay
I think most folks buy this product and are not prepared by the foul smelling liquid coming out of a seemingly nice blue bottle. I must admit I was one of them but after using this product for about 6 months, I can attest to its effectiveness in keeping fleas and ticks off my pet. My dog spends quite a bit of time outdoors and he used to bring home an occasional flea home. His coat was matted due to frequent licks and attempts at removing the itch of the flea bites. After starting using the neem oil, I noticed a gradual reduction in the matted coat and now I cannot find a flea on him or around my home.

The pet shampoo I buy comes in 16oz bottles, just pour about 2 tablespoons of the oil in the bottle, shake it up before each use and you're good. The oil does leave a slightly pungent odor on your dog's coat but it's not that hard to get used to, especially if diluted with shampoo. I wouldn't apply the oil directly to the coat unless it's a very bad case of tick infestation. I highly recommend this product.

4Smelly! but don't regret purchase.  Jun 01, 2011
By Autumn
Oh god the smell..it's terrible...it's like someone mixed roasted nuts and Worcestershire sauce, let it rot in the sun...and then bottled the outcome.

However, The great thing about this product is it's wide range of uses, it's helped my dog's skin and we're well into the warmer months and I haven't even seen a flea on any of our pets and I've only been using this as a diluted spray on our dog but I would like to try it as one reviewer used it like the drops you get from the vet to see how it compares. I'm very happy with my purchase but I really wish it didn't smell so awful, the scent doesn't seem to linger on my dog long, an hour or two maybe.

I have to mention though, that I don't think it works that well as an insect repellent, my dog and I spend a lot of time out doors so I thought this would be an added bonus to why I originally purchased the oil, but bugs still seemed to bother him, especially the gnats.
