Nicely stained and crafted. Mar 02, 2007

This product is very well made for small-medium dogs or large cats. The bowls are much larger than I expected. The wood is a low gloss deep maple color. I do not know how well it will hold up to water splashes (hence 4 star rating) so I may end up applying clear contact paper over the top surface. It is plainly attractive and sturdy.

Nice item overall but BEWARE of pic! Oct 30, 2010
By original This is a nice product overall. it is cute and perfect size for cats. very easy to build (took me less than 10 min) and just need screwdriver. Wood is good quality but not as shiney as i thought...i thought stained wood would be shiney and dont know if this is stained by the maker. the quality of the bowls is excellent and is stainless steel (made in India). Like one of the reviewers said, these bowls are deeper and not so wide. The unit is stable and doesnt tilt one side or the other. I am hoping this will hold up to splashing of water, and cleaning if needed.
WARNING though: do not expect item to look like pic. In the pic, the bowls are spaced apart, and item seems to be quite well-sized. it isnt. I will upload pics so you can see how compact this unit is. I was a bit unhappy of this misleading pic since i wanted bowls spaced a bit more apart... (this is the 3rd item i bought from Amazon with deceiving pics...arrgh); hence one star off, but other than that, good product overall if you dont like the sight of 'typical pet stuffs' in the house and want to treat r your little one with some class.

Great help with a blind dog Oct 08, 2008

I purchased this because my old, senile, and blind dog kept stepping in her food and water bowls. Water would spill all across the floor, and she'd track food wherever she walked. My husband and I thought maybe something that took the bowls off the floor and up closer to her shoulder height would help. This food pedestal not only makes it easier for her to find her food and water, but the sturdy wood frame serves as an obstacle to prevent her stepping in or knocking over the contents. No more accidents!
good product......shady parts Oct 15, 2010
By trevor I like this product alot. My mini schnauzer was eating his dry dog food out of a regular metal bowl. however he would take the food out of the bowl and eat it on the floor. (which is very annoying) so i bought this thinking he wouldn't be able to maneuver his food onto the floor if it was sitting in a pedestal. And it worked. he longer eats on the ground. The wood used for the pedestal is very nice quality. however the wooden nails were very ill fitting and too small to fit in some of the holes. this made it hard to fit the big wooden pieces together.
All in All though I would recommend this product.
Nice product Oct 15, 2010
By C. S. Gunderson I bought this pet food pedestal about a year ago and it has held up fairly well. The wood pedestal is very sturdy and holds the food and water at just the right height for our Bichon. Since the pedestal is wood with a low gloss stained finish the side that we keep the water in has started to warp a little as the finish has worn off. I wondered about that when we assembled it but I decided to leave it as it was, I should have applied a coat or two of polyurethane right away. Now I will probably have to sand down the top and apply some stain and polyurethane, it might be difficult to match the color but I don't think the dog will mind if the top doesn't quite match the sides.
