Just what I needed Aug 23, 2007
By D. Northup I bought the large freestanding gate earlier this summer in order to block off a large opening between my kitchen and family room. It's easy to step over and to move out of the way. My puppy has learned to stay behind the gate and doesn't even attempt to go over it even though he could. I was a bit disappointed to see the current price on Amazon. I bought it from Amazon for around 99 dollars. It looks as though the price has gone up quite a bit. I think this must be a popular item right now with pet owners. I have seen it at Coscto online recently for 89! Deal or no deal this is the gate to get.

Only for Very Small Dogs Feb 07, 2007
By carrie This gate is very easy to assemble and looks really good. Sadly for me, my Boston Terrier puppy- only 9lbs- is already able to climb over it. Only if you have a very, very small dog should you buy a 20 inch high gate. The photos of a full grown Collie relaxing by something of this height is very deceptive! My guess is that Collie casually stepped over the gate straight after the photo shoot.

Smart dogs will defeat this gate! Sep 02, 2007
By Sheltie Mom We purchased this for our two shelties, age 14 weeks and 2 years. We have a wide opening to block so the size is great. My only complaint, however, is that a smart resourceful dog will figure out how to move this. It only took my 2 year old sheltie 5 minutes. He would simply stick his nose in between the bars & nudge it out of the way. We found a way to secure it so he couldn't move it but it may be only a matter of time. Once our puppy is housetrained, the gate will be history. Well made though and the price was the best I could find for this gate.

Well made but to short Sep 19, 2007
By R. Osborne This gate is very well made & was easy to assemble, but it is to short to contain my 10" high Chihuahua (he simply jumps right over it). It might work well for small children, but I don't see it as being viable for most pets.

Excellent quality, attractive and does the job!! Mar 08, 2007
By D. Ferguson I ordered one of these gates to fit a large opening (68") between the foyer and living room. Prior to ordering this gate I was using ugly, plastic garden fencing to keep my little dogs out of the living area. This gate looks terrific. It was easy to put the pieces together. It's sturdy and I was so pleased I ordered 3 more to block the dogs from other areas of the house. It's very easy to step over, too.
Probably wouldn't work for large dogs or hyper little dogs that jump. But my little dogs see the gate and walk off and ignore it.
