A Must Have If You Own A Rena Air Pump May 11, 2012
By Peter Suslock
""Never be bullied into silence. Accept no one's definition of your life. Define yourself""
Like most air pumps the Rena draws in air from a port at the bottom. Often people complain that their air pumps get noisy after a few months, myself included.
While I run quite a few Rena 400 models, they tend to get over looked because there's so much involved in taking care of multiple tanks.
Water changes, Filter adjustments, replacing and or installing new lighting systems and so on.
Having these little filters on hand makes keeping your Rena as quiet as the day you first installed it.
The more clogged with dust and grime these filters get - the harder the diaphragm has to work. Which means more vibration and louder noise.
Cotton isn't particularly effective and what is more can allow that debris into the pump chamber and really cause problems.
Keep a pack or two of these replacements on hand and problem solved.
You'll notice better air flow and a quieter performance immediately . These little filters fit the Rena perfectly you just pull out the old one and pop in the new one - it's effortless.
Over the past thirty years I've tried about every pump there is and am partial to Rena for their excellent build quality and silent performance.
Before you consider tossing out your Rena or replacing it - make sure you exchange the air filter with a new one first.
