They also learn basics of puppy handling and grooming, giving commands and teaching obedience, tricks they can teach young canines, and much more. There are instructive and charming full-color photographs throughout the book. Suitable for ages 9-12, or 4-8 with parents' guidance.

2Not all that great  Sep 09, 2008
By Danisha Biossat "Golden Lover"
In my humble opinion... when you title a book "Puppy Training for Kids" it should be written on the level for which the audience is intended. This book is way too complex and dull for children. It has a lot of information in it and is not presented in the best manner. Kids need to be educated in a way that makes it interesting to them. This book made my daughter feel like she was in school. Writing a book and putting photos of kids with dogs does not constitute "Puppy Training for Kids" in my book. It should of been titled "Mommy Please Read This Book and Tell Me How To Train My Puppy" sorry folks

5excellent book for children  Feb 23, 2005
By Busy Bee
This is an excellent book for your children if you plan to make puppy a new member of your family. It guides the children through the various stages of training a puppy, has good photographs supporting the text and highlights certain important phrases. Whislt it, of course, does not cover all aspects of dog traing, it does not need to do that: the training will be the adults responsibility, and not the child's. The child however can and should support those efforts and by reading this book can add to the training and hence become a responsible dog owner her/ himself.

5Very informative book for children 9 and up.  Jan 29, 2006
By JoAnn Dahan "Kids Training Puppies"
The illustrations in this book are beautiful and easy to understand. Children can follow and understand how to care for and train their new puppy. This is not a book for people who are looking to learn about dog behavior the history of a dog. You will need to find a more informative book like; Good Owners, Great Dogs by Brian Kilcommons for that kind of information. But for older children who want to learn to care for their dog this is a good book for them.

JoAnn Dahan author of Kids Training Puppies in 5 Minutes and TV Show Host of Kids Training Puppies.

5Best Puppy Book for Kids!  Oct 05, 2007
By Mom of M&M
As preparation for a puppy for our 10-year-old son, we had him commit to reading this book first. Each night he read alone, and then we read together. It was not only informative, easy to read and follow, but a great shared time as well! It was the perfect "first" book to introduce our son into the upcoming responsibilities of having a dog. I also realized how neglectful I was in raising our now adult Labrador, and how much I want to re-train her with our son's puppy, too!

4PRETTY GOOD BOOK  Oct 18, 2003

Pretty good. Easy to understand unlike a lot of other dog books. I think it's just a little lacking in information, but it's a great book to start with, above average.
