This in-pond Skimmer & Filter System is fast and easy to install: the filter rests on the bottom of the pond. No liner cutting necessary. Skims debris off the top, middle and bottom of the pond. Suitable for ponds up to 2000 gallons with light fish population and for use with pumps from 1800 to 2400 gallons per hour. Adjusts automatically to changes in water level. Recommended for use with 1800 to 2400 gph pumps (sold separately).

Have tried several DIY options and totally gave up. Came across this bargain and took advantage of it. Initially it did not work as expected. Upon reading the manual the error was corrected and has worked great since then. two thumbs up. It works. Critical factor is pump volume. Recommended 1800gph and up is on the dot.

I have been using htis skimmer for about 1 1/2 years. It works well, but would prefer something that is even bigger. Cleaning the filter sometimes can be a pain. It is pretty sturdy. No cracks in mine yet. Suggest you get 2 or 3 sets of filters so you can quickly change them out and then rinse out the old one and use again. I also added a steel wire to the basket to make a handle which makes it easier to pick up with my reacher (grabber).
