Rugged Dog Toy Apr 24, 2009

I got the small version of this toy for our rat terrier puppy several months ago and he absolutely loves it. He grabs it by the string and thrashes it back and forth hitting the ball against the ground, himself, the furniture, us, etc. and sometimes launching it in the air. This is one of the few toys that lasted through (and beyond) his teething phase. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, my dog has managed to rip away part of the silver rope and expose the blue rope underneath but this has not ruined the toy or diminished my dog's desire to play with it.

Great toy Oct 13, 2008
By Shan My dog loves this. We had to retie the rope a few times as she kept untying the knot, but we seem to have it done well now. She loves swinging it around, throwing it across the room, chewing on the rope a bit, etc. The rope is surprisingly sturdy, it didn't seem like it would be but it's holding up fairly well. It's hollow so it doesn't hurt when she bangs it into our shins (maybe the best part from our point of view!).
She doesn't really care about balls unless they have something in them, so I can't say how sturdy the ball is, but it's a great toy overall!

Not so tuff Nov 29, 2009
By K. Simpson The main part of the ball is great and has mostly survived daily chewing. The rest of this toy is useless. Within a few hours of getting this toy our Border Terrier (read small-med size dog) had removed and eaten most of the land areas (green parts) that appeared to be just glued on. The rope didn't last much longer.

unglued Mar 16, 2010

I was betrayed by a dog "expert" that swears by these that they're the greatest thing ever. I suspect Planet Dog has in fact betrayed them by letting their quality control slip. The green parts are glued on, but not very well. I don't leave any toys with my dog unsupervised but my puppy ripped Australia off and swallowed it in only a minute of play. Several of the other continents are peeling off and hanging my a thread. I felt like returning the ball with the green piece, poop and all.

Don't last as long as they used to... Jan 02, 2010
By Caleb Callahan I got an orbee for a gift for my bulldog a few years back and it lasted about four years of off and on chewing. We have proceeded to give planet dog products to all friends with dogs, especially ones with a proclivity to chew up supposed "indestructible" toys over the past few years.
However, since getting the new versions of the same toys, the dog has chewed right through them within weeks, sometimes within a day. Either the bulldog has gotten even stronger jaws during his fifth and sixth years of life or the orbee's have declined in quality. Based on the information I have on hand, I am going to lean towards the latter.
I am pretty disappointed because I finally thought I found a dog toy brand that would last more than a week or two.
This is a great toy and company for most normal dogs, but stay away from it for super-strong chewers.
