saggy top loses the star Nov 03, 2006
By J. Mills Overall this carrier is well made, my only complaint is that there is no support system on the top arching cover so it sags big time on the sides. It says it will fit dogs upto 75lbs but my dogs are 50-60 lbs and they just fit - if your dog is bigger I would choose a dfferent carrier with more head clearance. Hope this helps!

Not my first choice for a long-term crate Sep 24, 2009
By Saltchuck This crate was featured as a gold box special recently, a day after I had ordered a more expensive portable crate from Amazon. I decided to order this one as well and decide which one I would keep.
This crate would probably be fine in the smaller sizes, but in the large size I ordered for my growing retriever pup, I noticed that the top sagged quite a bit which reduced the headroom. As this would be used on a nearly daily basis in my car, I decided to send this one back and keep the more expensive, sturdier crate that I had initially ordered (even though it was almost twice as expensive).
For an occasional use or for smaller pets, I'm sure that this would be just fine. If you are looking for a more permanent home for your pet, keep looking!

Wonderfully portable Oct 15, 2008

First this is not a "crate" to contain an animal that does not want to be contained. That said, it is fantastic for cats going to the vet and dogs especially if you trying to contain in a car. We have one for out cat, and when it's not in use it just folds up and goes in the closet. I bought one for our son for their dog, she is a 60 lb mix and it's perfect while she is in the car. Then it folds up and goes in the truck. very handy.

Not just a carrier. Oct 30, 2009

I already owned a really nice carrier but came across this during a sale and wound up purchasing 2 of them. I purchased them because I was looking for a more permanent place my cats could play, hide or even sleep in. I just finished reading a couple cat books relating to their behavior and each of them suggest that you have a couple places that the cat can go where he can be alone. On top of that my cats are absolutely terrified of storms and thunder. Once the first thunder from a storm is heard, they are gone and hiding under our bed. The problem with that is that we have a ton of crap under our beds so there isn't a lot of room for them under there. They also love to play in enclosures like this. Every time we have something shipped to our house, our cats are jumping in and out of the empty boxes, especially the bigger ones. We usually turn the big boxes on thier side and they wind up hanging out in there and even sleeping in there. They like it so much that we usually leave a couple boxes laying around for just this purpose but the boxes don't look very nice, don't stay in good condition long, and they aren't as comfortable as these carriers. This is basically just a more permanent solution, kind of like a kitty tent that you leave up at all times.
Anyways its now been over 2 months and they absolutely love them. When storms come or the lawnmower guys come, they immediately run for cover in one of these. They nap in them all the time and even chase one another in and out of them. Of course they look a hundred time better than shipping boxes and will no doubt last a thousand time longer without getting all beat up. I really cant comment on these in regards to them being used as carriers except to say that they are comfortable, have plenty of room, and have a very good build quality.
The bottom line - If your looking for a nice kitty hideout that doubles as a carrier or vice versa then you should give this a look. My cats absolutely love them!!

I love it Mar 26, 2010

"just a thought"
I own this crate. I was able to purchase this new at a flea market for $20. I didn't realize how expensive this actually was until now. It even came complete with the tent pegs. I do not use this crate for transporting my animals in but I do love the portability of this crate since it pops up and down very easily. I am currently using this for my female cat who just had babies to keep the new kittens seperated from the other animals in the house and love it for this. I can easily slide the babies which are actually in a laundry basket in and out with the mother. I love how the sides have windows for easy viewing. I don't have a problem with a sagging top as other reviewers have commented on.
