great item - sub par construction Jul 24, 2007

I just received my litter locker today. I can see how it will be very handy. save on grocery bags i'm sure. But i'm disappointed in the construction. First off it's flimsy, the lid and body don't snap together very snuggly, so when picking it up, it can come unhinged very easily. i almost have an urge to duct tape it together and just undo that once every three weeks when i empty it. Second, the shape is inconvenient. not really easy to stow away anywhere near the litter box. if you want to keep it handy, you have to live with a giant plastic eye sore sitting in the room. the person that designed this had a great idea here, but clearly didn't have any cats. i don't see how they would have found this something they'd want to sit in their house.
OH, and why no handle? This thing is nearly impossible to move, especially with the aforementioned propensity to unhingedness.
3 stars for inventiveness
negative 2 stars for design and construction shoddiness.

Great for apartment living Jul 10, 2008
By snwlprd I live in a condo and the dumpster is 3 blocks away--making daily litter disposal unlikely. The Litter Locker is a great device to handle this problem. I have used it for my one large cat for 3 months now (at the recommendation of my Mom) and it makes a great difference. However, I agree with one reviewer who said assembly not the strongest, nor does it control the smell completely--but nothing is perfect!
I thought the locker sealed each disposal with the turn of the wheel, but not so. It only rolls it up--as you find out when emptying it. It is essentially one long tube of plastic and when you remove it from the wheel, the deposits shift and slide around, making it a little difficult to handle--I have a mop bucket with a trash bag open in it which I use to dump the used litter bag--much easier that way.
Well worth the money for the convenience, especially if live in apartment or condo---the refills don't last quite a month--it all depends on your kitty's deposits and odor--my kitty's deposits are equal to his size (as is the smell) so I crank the wheel at least twice a day, using one refill about every 2.5-3 weeks. The nice thing is if you wait to crank the wheel until you have a chamber full, the bag will bulge and fill the wheel well faster, but you can cut, tie off, and restart the process using the same refill.

Better odor control is worth any minor inconvenience Aug 03, 2008
By Bonnie Eglin This product is great for odor control. I love it for its descrete compactness. I find replacing the bag cartrage to be difficult(if you're like me) for persons with disabilities.

NO MORE TEARS when a little too full, EASY FIX! Jul 19, 2010

It's true, we've found a FIX FOR TORN LINER BAGS!!
We've been using the regular old black & white Litter Locker for just about 2 years now. The only problem has been the liner bag tearing when it was just a bit past full, and spilling dirty litter inside the Locker. It was very annoying, but is a thing of the past now.
We have found a FIX! We noticed that the tear would start when the over-full bag went past the "button" you push to open the locker to empty it. The inside of the locker, behind that "button" is kind of rough. (Just the normal roughness from injection-molded plastics.) We put Gorilla tape over the rough area (duct tape will do, we just had Gorilla tape handy) and wrapped it around to the front. We have NO MORE TEARS! And as a little "bonus," the tape makes the button stand out in front.
Just be sure to use ONE layer of tape, or your button won't 'seat,' and the front won't "latch." Otherwise, it's a great fix, and our Locker makes us even happier.

LOVE IT! Feb 19, 2007

I love this item. After getting 2 more cats, adding to my one, I found that cleaning the litter box became a horrible chore! I had to clean it 2, sometimes 3 times a day to keep it clean and smelling good, and it was hectic to keep getting a plastic sack to put the cat feces in. The litter mate is awesome!! I have had it for about 3 weeks now, and emptied the bags once. im sure the one refill of bags will last me until the end of the month. not a bad investment of about 7 bucks a month for the refills!! Its worth every penny!!
