Large dog bed Apr 29, 2010
By Kitchen Guru
"CA"
The colors are nice but the quality is lacking. The top side of the bed that has the quilting--lasted about 2 weeks before stuffing started coming out of it. My smaller dog likes to dig/scratch his bed to get it "just right." I keep his nails cut but the stitching is now loose. I have it turned over and am using the other side. The outer material is thin and will tear easily and thus I would not recommend this product. There are heavier made products for the same price. I was lured in by the color/quilt design and cannot enjoy it unless I want to look at stuffing all over the house. I will now have to pay someone to sew/repair it or better yet--get a better made product.

Very Attractive Country Decor Dogbed, BUT... Sep 19, 2010
By Backwoods Shopper I bought this same Moose Theme dog bed from another store 1st. My dog fell in love with it right away! I loved the look of the bed so much & since my dog really loved it too, I felt I had found the perfect dog bed. So, I also ordered another Moose Theme & 2 of the Lake Theme dog beds, one for each room in my house!
The Moose Theme dog bed looks great with blues, pinks, sage, greens, tans or neutral color rooms & the Lake Theme dog bed fits in great with the traditional colors of red & green mountain cabin themes!
While the other 3 dog beds were on their way by shipping, I started noticing problems with the one I already had. Some of the decorative top stitching was coming out. No biggie...I just tied it off & sewed some more back in.
Then I noticed that my dog appeared to be bottoming out on the bed. He is an Australian Cattle Dog mix & he weights about 32 lbs. Anyway, I bought some stuffing from a craft store & filled his bed a little thicker. That is when I really noticed that the fabric seemed very thin for use on a dog bed. The sewing quality seemed sort of poor too. Because of these things, I was very careful not to over stuff the dog bed.
I must say; I expected these dog beds to have been made much better then they were because the company, "Petmate," was supposed to be a good ole, "American" company, from Texas!
When my new order arrived, I decided to just open one of the Lake Theme dog beds & then use it & the Moose Theme that I already had. Good thing I did that because I ended up returning the other 2 beds due to the poor quality issues.
About a week after I had received my other 3 beds, My poor dog somehow tore one of the little quilted squares on the Moose Theme dog bed. Upon examination of the bed, I found that a few more of the squares were coming apart from their seams & that my dog had probably got his foot slid in between the one of them & that was how he tore it. My dog is a very well behaved dog & is not a destroyer at all. He is very gentle with his things.
Conclusion: All the beds are extremely attractive for a country home or cabin theme home.
BUT...the cotton fabric the dog beds are made of is way too thin & flimsy for daily doggie usage! The fabric is thinner than a cheap bed sheet or a low quality cotton shirt!
That cute "decorative" stitching is actually part of the quilting but, since the stitches are large, "handcrafted" stitching, they tend to catch on doggie nails, even short, nicely groomed & trimmed ones!
The stuffing, (filling) is quite skimpy & both beds needed additional stuffing after about 2 weeks of daily use by a 32 lb dog.
If you have a dog who is not real active & only gets in & out of the bed a few times a day, these beds might be fine. But, for normally active, mid size dogs, these beds don't seem to hold up for very long. I now have the Moose Theme Dog Bed set aside until I ever come across another piece of fabric suitable in color for me to replace the little square that got torn.
Note: I almost kept the other 2 beds just to use them as big "human" throw pillows, (they are that cute!) But, in the long run, I needed to buy a more durable dog bed & I figured I should return the other 2 & then put that money toward a better quality bed. Why reward some company for making such flimsy products from, you guessed it...China!

well made Aug 02, 2009
By dog mom "anita" I was surprised at how well made this was. I have already washed it and it didnt shrink or loose its shape. Perfect for a floor throw for the dog and pretty on its own. Very well priced.

Mmmmmmm dog bed! Jan 20, 2011
By Ben Size is as described, but the stitching is just ok. This bed did not last long with my dog. Within 2 weeks, the dog had destroyed it.
If your dog doesn't chew things then its probably ok, but mine chewed it up very easily.

love this- and so does my dog Aug 22, 2010
By LM very pretty colors that match my decor. so many beds for dogs are plain and not so pretty. my dog loves it. i bought for my Labrador however my little jack Russell took over :) i bought the same one from a local pet-store for more $$ and that was 2 years ago. im glad i found another one on amazon and at a cheaper price. i would wash on gentle cycle as the threads on my old one came loose. but even when they did the bed still held up.
