First of all, the description is factually inaccurate. The heating pad is MAYBE 9x9 inches - not 15. And the "thick Berber" cover is "thick" only when compared to the thickness of a solitary sheet of paper. My chihuahua took one - one! - scratch/rub (you know, that burrowing motion) and I doubt the cover would have withstood another. The tiny heating element barely got warm. How it was supposed to heat a "bed" 30 by 40 inches is a mystery.
Needless to say, I returned this piece of trash for a full refund. But despite the fact that Amazon's Customer Service is exceptional (no issues in returning for a full refund), I am actually a bit dismayed that Amazon would so falsely advertise a product (or allow a vendor to so inaccurately describe a product). Is there no accountability?
In short - DO NOT waste your time with this worthless piece of S---. It it not worth the return trip to the UPS Store.
(Would you believe Amazon will not allow me to NOT rate the item at least one star? Even though one star = "I hate it" I don't even like the idea of gracing this garbage with that.

We have two dachshunds that are getting a little older. We bought this slightly larger than needed bed so they could cuddle together and it's been very popular. Bed is barely warm to the human touch, but when it's cold, the dogs know right where to head. Definitely recommend.

I bought this for my 12 year old Yorkie who has had both hips replaced. Not only does he love it but his 8 month old baby brother loves it too!! Even without the heating element turned on they both love to cuddle on it. Before I bought this, Dilli would curl up on my daughter's laptop for the warmth, but now he goes straight to his bed and snuggles. Even though the size is quite large for two very tiny yorkies (less than 3lbs each), it was such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. In fact, the smaller size was almost twice the price. It comes in a nice carry bag too, so if you wanted to take it with you somewhere you could easily put it back in the bag. Great deal on this one, I highly recommend!!

It gives me a lot of peace of mind to know my dog has this bed as an option in the winter.
I have another cushy bed beside it and I do notice my dog & cat use the heated bed when its cold outside.
My pets like to spend inside & outside time so having this in our garage for them lets me not worry if they are out
when its cold.
