Heats Well, Soft, Kitten Prefers over Cat May 15, 2009
By Miss Jennifer R. Scott I think this pillow is fairly well made, the heating packet inside is a nice feature, and I am satisfied with it overall.
It did not go over well with my visually-impaired kitty, though. She seems to be turned off by the smell (maybe the buckwheat in the heating pack). I can't really smell a noticeable odor myself, but she is very sensitive to smell, even more so than most cats, so she seems to sniff and sniff it, consider it, and then walk away.
When I got a kitten who was not quite six weeks old yet because its mother died, I put this on her bed. She seemed to like the warmth and cuddled up a little with it. Now she is older, she doesn't sleep on it too much, but she does like to chew on the tassles sometimes.
I am not sure why the other reviewer had a problem because I have found that the packet heats up just fine. (Just be sure to heat the packet, not the outside. And heat it long enough according to the wattage of your microwave.) In fact, a few times, I had to leave it to cool a few moments before giving it to kitty because it seemed to heat too well!

Love these! Dec 23, 2008
By watercoolerchic We bought two of these a few years ago and our cats love them. When I microwaved the pouch, our oldest cat sat on it for hours. Even without heating it, they still sit on them, snuggle with them, and our 8-month-old kitten tears around and carries it with him. They are also very washable - I threw one in a small wash cycle and let it air dry and it came out like new. (Just remember to remove the buckwheat pouch before washing.) I understand cats have different tastes, so it depends on the cat, but I've been really happy with these warming pads.

Great concept but the dog must be VERY small, I have kittens and it is about the right size for ONE of them.
Definitely not for cats Aug 30, 2010

I bought this at Petco for my previous kitty last year, cuz I liked the colors and I thought this could be helpful since Forest was very sick. He never liked it, not just ignored, but if I put it at his favorite place, he would stay away. This thing smells nasty after you heat it. No wonder my other kitty avoids it, too. Sometimes I use it myself though (as a hot water bottle), but even then it stays warm only for about 30 minutes and again - the smell is disgusting! P.S. I agree with the previous 1-star-reviewer - if your kitty is cold, put them under your blanket when you go to bed, hug them and pet them to sleep (just make sure there's enough air to breathe LOL)
Worth the buy for one scared kitty! Feb 17, 2009

I have 3 cats and only one of them uses this kitty comfort mat, but it is well worth it! She absolutely loves it. I have never heated it up, but I have had it for years and she still lays on it and snuggles her head under it when she is scared. It was a great buy for comforting her.
