Great temporary pen Sep 28, 2009
By Momiline

This is a great temporary pen for pups. I have 2 Miniature Schnauzer pups (they're currently about 11 months old. I take them to the Farmer's Markets where we work during the summer and it works perfectly. There is enough ventilation to keep them cool during the hotter months, yet contained enough to keep the cold wind out during the cooler months. You do need to make sure the bottom latch is secure to prevent it from collapsing; it's sometimes too loose. Also, really young puppies should be watched since the bottom latches sometimes don't stick. My puppies escaped once. My only other complaint is the bag to transport it in: it's way too small. It's a real pain to put it in after taking the pen down. The manufacturer should make it slightly larger and maybe have an elastic closing instead of a pull tie.

Worked great but... Mar 03, 2008

We bought this for our 3 month old Border Terrier. It works great and we love it. We've only had two minor problems.
1)The puppy was almost able to jump out so we had to create a "top" out of an old box. This ended up working better for us since we use it as his den. I think the darkness helped him calm down quicker. 2)We also have to watch the velcro strip on the door since the puppy tends to chew it.
Other than those two issues we love it!! It is big enough for the bed, a small litter box, some toys, a blanket and a water bowl.

Side Locks Hard to Work Apr 28, 2009
By Perpetua

We are not entirely happy with this item. The "locks" on the sides when you fold it open are incredibly difficult to work and they won't stay locked. My husband finally got them to lock and not keep folding down. We had a hard time folding it when we needed to take it to another location, then we couldn't get the locks to snap back again. We had it replaced and the second one is exactly the same, so we believe it is a design flaw. It was very expensive for something that doesn't "home 'n go" in our opinion. If you can get the sides to lock in place once, you're best leaving them that way. We ended up having to buy PVC piping and putting it through the fabric to get the sides to stay up because we needed it for our puppies. I'm disappointed that I can use it as intended to bring my dogs back and forth from home to work.
The puppies were able to pull and strip long pieces of fabric from the seams inside, and I don't believe it will be long until they chew a hole in the side from the weakened seams. The seams should have been reinforced in a way to prevent it from fraying.

PRODUCT IS OKAY Feb 19, 2008

My puppy loves her playpen. I liked it too in the beginning because she was more comfortable being left in it,BUT she was managing to chew through the front zipper door had I continued to leave her in it for a period of time. Mind you this is only a 3 lb dog. But as far as moving the playpen around my house, I loved it, was well as the removable pad in the bottome for easy cleaning. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have purchased it.

Great if you leave-up & don't need to set-up or fold-up Sep 27, 2006
By Grandma GG I bought this pen to use in my small home office. The smaller size and rectangular shape of the pet pen works well in smaller rooms (like my office) where a larger playpen would be overwhelming. My tiny poodle pup used it from 10-weeks until she was fully potty-trained, so it was only used for a few months and was still in great condition when I gave it away. I set up 3 playpens in the rooms I use most frequently, and took the puppy with me from room-to-room placing her in that room's playpen. So, while she was mostly confined to one playpen or another, she wasn't unsupervised. Collapsing this particular pen was very difficult and it was impossible to fit it back into the carrying case that came with it. When I finally gave it away, the carrying case was alongside it, because I never could stuff it back into that case. This pen is durable, but I can recommend it only if you want to set it up and leave it in place. If you have the space for a larger pen, I highly recommend the Graco child playpen (our Graco has seen 16 years' service with no rips in the netting) which is much easier to put up and take down, stores, cleans and travels easily, and costs about $20 less. We still use the playpen now that she is fully grown. We take it camping to keep her safely confined while we sit outside, to motels where she needs to be confined, and we take it visiting when we don't want her wandering their house or yard unattended.
