The Pentax DCF HR II binoculars are a nice bright, very accurate color and very sharp on center axis. Making them an excellent birder set of glasses. I noticed that the outter 15% of the field of view (FOV)was slightly distorted, but most won't notice that as you tend to use the center 80% of the FOV for most viewing.

I have used this set of glasses for birding, sporting events, and astronomy all with very good results. The eye pieces of these fine binoculars are excellent for eye glass wearers like me as you can see the whole FOV very nicely.

The only real Con I have against these fine glasses are they are a little heavy for a 42mm size but not unmanageable.

Over all a very good and enjoyable pair of Binoculars at a reasonable price.

Sharp optics, great eye relief for glasses wearers.
The weight is OK, but not as light as the Nikon Monarch.
One quibble; It is a bit tough to pass a strap through the strap holder. It is easy to focus and seems to be made of solid construction.
Good price, too. I am pleased with the binocs.

5The BEST !  Nov 09, 2011

These are the best binoculars we have used! They bring the birds up so close you can see every detail. The best part is you can use them when the birds are closer than most binoculars, also. They have a great range. They are easy to focus and work well for both my husband and me who have very different focusing requirements. A+++
