My senior kitty's all-time favorite toy! Dec 18, 2006
By Schmuck w. Underwood Okay, some lunatic reviewer has trashed *every single version* of this product sold by *every single seller.* I don't know about her situation, but I wanted to say that my cat LOVES this toy. She is SEVENTEEN and still runs around like crazy, playing with this toy. The vet says she is as healthy as a nine-year-old cat, and he thinks her regular exercise is a major factor.
As far as durability goes.... Samantha managed to break the Discovery Pets Hyper Mouse (a different company's version of this toy) by burning out the motor within a year, and she broke the original Hyper Mouse by breaking the metal pivot off the wand within 6 months. And now I'm back to buy a Panic Mouse 360. Why? Because my cat loves this SO MUCH, it's still a bargain to me even if I have to buy a new one every year. That averages out to about two bucks a month, for my cat to get daily fun and exercise.
My tip: buy the 360 degree one, not the original. It's much more fun for the cat if she can run all the way around the toy.

It's a good idea, but... Jan 08, 2008
By Professor This thing gives my 7 month old kitten a lot of fun for 5 seconds. After five seconds, he's caught it in his mouth, bent the rod, and halted the motor. After 10 seconds, he's removed the mouse/feathers and rod from the base and I'm chasing him down to retrieve it before he tears it up. It might work for my kitten with the following improvements: the rod is made of titanium, a 5 HP geared motor, the feathers or mouse is made of Teflon, and it should be beta-tested by cheetahs in the Serengeti. Perhaps for an older less excitable cat it would be o.k.? I give it 2 stars because it's a great idea and makes the cat very excited.

No match for my cat. Jul 18, 2007
By Fryfat You think you're pretty cool Panic Mouse? You're no match for my kitty!
BROKEN in 6 minutes after opening. Take that!
The yellow plastic wand broke at the base. I knew she'd break it, but in 6 minutes? The wand is crap.
I originally rated this item 1 for the wand breaking, but now that I've used it for awhile I change my mind. I re-attached the wand using binder clips, and even attached some random cat wands from Petsmart. The cat loves it.
The auto-off timer is great, I can put the toy in the other room and set it for 30 minutes, then I can watch TV in PEACE. Good product, would buy it again, just be prepared to fix it up yourself with rubber bands and binder clips!

Best Cat Toy Ever Dec 04, 2008
By A. Patton I have owned one of these for my two cats for about 3 years, and now i came back to Amazon to buy one as a gift for a sister with new cats. I read some reviews about the thing breaking, and i wouldn't doubt it, but mine has held up to constant daily use for 3 years with no problems. A few tips, 1- use rechargeable batteries, this thing will go through them fast if you buy regular ones. 2- I took the ball(mouse) thing off and attached a foot long piece of elastic string instead. The cats used to just grab the mouse and hold on to it and never let go, then get bored. Now the string drags the ground (a personal favorite for my cats)where they can grab it for a few seconds, but being elastic it eventually stretches and slips out from under their paws, causing them to chase it for long periods of time. Even when they get tired they will just lay there on their backs swatting up at it. My cats beg me to turn it on several time a day. Best 25-30 dollars i ever spent for my cats.

Great, except my cat killed it in two days!! Aug 20, 2008
By Walt My cat killed it in two days! It was a Christmas present, so it was just like having little kids around again. All three of my cats loved it. UNTIL Mad Max got so excited that he grabbed it and ran through the house with the whole toy in his mouth, banging on the floor and walls. I opened it up to see if I could fix it; he had broken several wire connections that were too short for me to re-solder. It's a great toy for sedate cats. Not for psycho-kitty ex-ferals, though. I suppose it would cost a fortune if it were cat-proof: titanium body and wand, with plug-in connections, instead of soldering.
