Novartis Program for Dogs & Puppies 21-45-lbs and Cat 7-15-lbs (Yellow)

If a PROGRAM Flavor Tabs treated dog comes in contact with a flea-infested environment, adult fleas may infest the treated animal. However, these adult fleas will be unable to reproduce. Depending on the number of adult fleas, the temporary use of conventional adulticidal insecticides may be used to control these adult fleas. Your veterinarian can recommend the most effective treatment plan for your pet.

5Ticks and fleas are gone, gone, gone!  Dec 08, 2010
By kenziekylanmom1
We had our dog for 4 years and then noticed in the spring of 2010 that he was itching a lot and biting himself. Well, we had taken him camping and he ended up with fleas and we found a huge tick on him too! We tried all different types of programs from Petsmart but nothing seemed to work. I searched online until I found the Program and decided we would give it a try. I did read that he could possibly get a little sick from the first pill but nothing happened he just took it with a piece of ham and loved it. A few days later we realized that all of the fleas were dying. YES!!! It worked great, sticker came with it for your calendar so every month I knew exactly what day to give him his little pill. No pesky fleas or ticks since a couple of days after we started!

I have 3 cats and have become an expert on controlling fleas. We have always used Frontline, and it's not doing the trick anymore. We just switched to the Program, and it is so much easier to feed them a chewable table in their food than trying to get oil in just the right spot. I've also seen a significant reduction in fleas. Strongly suggest using Capstar as a compliment, because it kills the fleas on your pet within about 30 minutes. I'd give daily if it wasn't so expensive. What works for us is to give them Capstar and Program with their wet food, and then vacuum because the fleas just fall off dead or dying everywhere because of the Capstar. Even without Capstar, you should still vacuum because it removes most of the adults and eggs. Then we flea comb them daily to get the sole survivors out!

3They have to bite  Jan 04, 2012

Program doesn't kill the adult fleas that bite your pet, but it doesn't let the next generation develop. With a complementary product, they say you can control a flea infestation. Maybe. But I won't use this product on my pet, nor any of the topical flea treatments. My dog gets a terrible welt at the site of every flea bite, and the product doesn't stop the fleas from biting. On the contrary, that's how it works. She would suffer far more by using Program than by using an old-fashioned water-based flea spray or one of the other old-fashioned products that work by repelling fleas instead of inviting them to lunch. The whole point of my using a flea treatment on her is so she doesn't suffer. This is one of the products that prolonged her suffering before I realized what was going on. I gave it three stars because, where my dog is concerned, it's no more useful than the topical treatments.
