Love this crate Aug 23, 2007
By D. Northup I bought the large pet residence for my 4 month old already crate trained golden retriever. I am very pleased with it. It is a very attractive looking crate and sits right next to the bed as an over sized bedside table. The outer frame (so far) seems sturdy enough to hold an acrylic or glass top so I am able to put my lamp and clock, etc. right there but I shouldn't recommend doing this. This crate would fit anywhere in my home though so I'm thrilled. We even took it with us on vacation in our SUV instead of buying a collapsible travel crate. Two minor issues to note would be that in order to open and close the crate you will need to use two hands simultaneously and the bottom pan has many grooves so you need a thick pad in the bottom.

GREAT CRATE Dec 12, 2007

I am very pleased with this crate. It is very well made, stylish and practical. My new puppy took to it right away. Easy to put together. Now I don't have to hide it because it is ugly. My puppy sleeps in it every night and it is her comfort spot. Would highly recommend!

Large Dog Crate Sep 07, 2007
By Gary Boswell
"Dog Lover"
We purchased this dog crate when we remodeled our bedroom. Our dog was used to a wire crate and we weren't sure if she would like a more enclosed wicker crate. No problem what so ever and the wicker crate is much more attractive than a wire one. The quality is excellent and our Maddie is very happy in her new crate.

Looks good, but not for strong, bored dogs. Nov 24, 2011

First off, this crate looks really nice. It is the best looking crate we've found.
The door latches are also quite effective. Normally our 11-year-old beagle figures out latches quickly and we have to use climbers' clips to reinforce the door.
The problem with this crate is weak welds on the wire on the door. The cage/wire is thin, and therefore where they connect to each other are tiny little "tack" welds. Our 11-year-old, arthritic dog destroyed 10 welds in one night! Once the cage wire comes off of one weld, it's easy to rip it off of the other ones. Basically, the door is ruined.
Do we just have a really bad dog? Perhaps, but the $60 crate we had before this one lasted 11 years with this dog - the latches went bad, but not one weld problem.
Second thing... the wicker came to us unwound on the back. We almost sent it back over this, but given the size of the crate and how hard it is to ship, we decided to live with that problem. The weld problem is not so easily ignored.
If you have a quiet, relaxed dog, this will probably work. But if your dog gets bored during the night and starts pulling, you'll find them with their head stuck in a hole they've made in the morning.
Sorry, good looks or not, this crate does not meet the cut.
A fix would be to wind the wires around the top and bottom before welding them. Then, you'd not be pulling against the weld, but the wire itself.
We've temporarily used large-sized zip-ties to prevent her from getting her head stuck until we figure out what to do.
Defective Apr 15, 2012
By Megan We were very excited to get this crate and have it for our labrador. We pulled it out of the box and started to assemble it only to discover that the holes where screws go through had the wicker wrapped through them! We would have had to cut the wicker and somehow glue it to keep it from unraveling in order to access the holes. Back to the store it goes.
UPDATE: We decided to use wire on the defective holes to put the crate together rather than pay to ship it back and honestly, it is a really nice crate. It's pretty, sturdy and our lab like's it much more than the wood one (she was chewing it badly but after 5 nights in this one she hasn't touched it, I think she likes the open front better). The latch does seem a little weak but it's holding up so far. All in all, it looks nice, my dog likes it, so it got upped 2 stars.
