Great for that older pump thats just not performing like she used to. Make your pump like a new one for 1/4 the cost. Easy to install.

5I am now a believer . . it works!  Aug 22, 2010

I was about to replace my LUFT PUMP by Coralife which served my aquarium since Mar 2005. Lately, it started producing loud noise and would only works vigorously on the top end of the control knob. I needed a stronger air pump which need to push air from the aquarium cabinet (below) up to the top of my 90 Gal tank then back down inside. This pump had provided service quietly through those many years.

In my search, I come across this Repair Kit. I read the only review and was skeptic. I opened the bottom of the pump and exposed the inside mechanism. I saw the pump working and so I assumed there's no problem there, it still pumping air but I question the integrity of the control knob, could be the capacitor. Every time I turn the knob half way the sound settle down but there's not enough power to pump air, only one bubble comes out at the end of the air stone. Only when I turned it to the max will it produces plenty bubbles but also come the annoying noise.

Then one day comes the repair kit. I knew I will end up buying the whole unit and not so eager to spend time installing it, the kit compose of a rubber pump like a bladder, a round felt filter and some screws, I knew it's the wrong parts. Anyway, when I got the chance, I sat down and start installing. Whala! It works like the way it was when I first bought it, Amazing! I don't understand what really makes the noise. The old bladder pump doesn't look any different?? Well, I believe what the first reviewer was not saying . . . "Make your pump like a new one ".

Update: Oct. 3, 2011
Well, the repair kit I was describing above went bad, the same story. I purchase a new kit and as I said run like new. I inspected the old part, specifically, the rubber pump, I didn't declare it as worn out. It still work on full power. I opened it check it out and couldn't find any problem except maybe dirt. There was dirt inside the housing but non inside the blubber pump. The filter looks clean. Can anyone tell me what causing the problem?

Update: Jan 16, 2012
A new problem pops out, it's the power control knob this time and not really the bladder. Turn to full power but this time it won't run but if I put (press) some pressure it will fun (pump). So I placed some electrical tape to hold the pressure but as time went by the bubbles became fewer and fewer but the pump still sound in full power. I wonder if I can buy a new power control knob?
