Fantastic for anything from airline travel to mountain hiking to bike riding! Jul 28, 2009
By Rachel Romano Well, first of all, I have to say that this little carrier was a lifesaver flying from Ohio to Italy with 2 cats in tow. One of our cats was in this carrier and was as comfortable as possible for a series of 3 flights. We also had another carrier for the other cat CFA Cat Carrier which also worked out well. The pros and cons of this backpack were this:
PROs:
1. Easy to pull on wheels in the airport without bouncing the cat around. Having the wheelable feature made it easier for us to get around quickly without making it an uncomfortable ride for the cat.
2. Once while she was feeling a bit more frightened, I was able to wear the backpack on the front and keep a hand inside the bag which was a great comfort to her.
3. Nice big pockets on the sides and front which held extra food, pee pads, and the harness and leash that the airline required.
4. It washed out well in the bathtub when we got home.
5. It met Delta's requirements for an under-seat pet carryon. (Although this changes often, so double check before buying it just for flying!)
CONs:
1. Not a large walking space for the cat. This carrier, obviously being more tall than long, had less moving space for our cat than the other standard carrier that we had for the other cat. During the longest part of the flight we took the kitten from this carrier and put her in with the other kitten in a single carrier, however, we could not have done that in this bag. If you have a very small dog (we have a smaller than average Maltese that LOVES this), that would be the best size pet for using this outside of airline travel.
2. No frame on the top to keep the net from 'collapsing' on the animal's head.
3. Wish this had a place for a water bottle.
Overall, I'm very glad I bought this bag. It's versatile, holds a lot in addition to the pet, and still has a lot of 'viewing space' for them to look out. I have since bought other products of this brand; they seem to be sturdy and practical. I hope this helps!
**Update 9/09: We've had this bag for nearly 2 years now and it has been completely hosed down a time or two and still keeps on going (no rust on the frame, etc. Still no regrets about buying this bag. Since our dog goes everywhere with us though, and he absolutely loves to be in a backpack in crowded spaces or on the more difficult hikes, we added another backpack which is worth mentioning before you decide what to buy. It is the Paws At Work Travel System from PetEgo. The interior expands more or less depending on the amount of space they need and has a frame to keep the space from falling in on their heads in the full open setting. It also has a removable pop-up house, as well as a separate pocket for a laptop. Worth checking out before making any decisions. :)

Great answer for a small dog. Nov 16, 2008

This carrier turned out to be the best answer to taking our Dachshund on bicycle trips. 13 lbs of Duchshund can be felt thru the straps and for that reason I wish the straps were a little wider but everything else about the pack is great. Well made, sturdy. Mesh on three sides so the dog can see out. I've looked at many other solutions including handlebar mounted baskets and this was the best choice. Recommend.

Purchasing my second one... Jan 09, 2008
By E. Young I bought one of these quite some time ago only looking to use for air travel. My small 8 lb toy fox terrier fits ok inside but as it has soft sides with no support it tends to cave in on him crowding him from the roof when laid down under a seat, and the area for him to lay this direction is on top of the handle so needs to be padded. BUT...when it is upright in backpack mode, he LOVES it as a car seat and a backpack!!! he can safely hang out the window and greet people as we backpack. Our original was stepped on by our teen so the damage to the hard floor was well... I am purchasing a new one so it must be that good!

Perfect for air travel Sep 06, 2009

This has been my carrier of choice for the past three years.
The airline has no problem with it because it fits perfectly under the seat.
My cat adores it even with his size (he is quite large)
True is a tight fit, but he just gets in and gets ready for a lon comfy nap.
We even use it to go around town with him. Visits to family members are a joy. (I wish he were a bit lighter in weight though)
The padding on the base is perfect. The pockets are just right for papers and food supplies.
Going through airports with this is a breeze.
I am buying my second one this year because the other one it a bit worn out by now.

Perfect for a small cat/dog Dec 30, 2009
By Robin Collins I have a mini Dachshund, and she's just a puppy so I hate leaving her at home, she hasn't had all her shots yet so I can't put her on the ground in pet stores ect. This back pack has been a god send most stores don't let you bring a dog in, however in this as long as we don't take her out all they do is coo at her. When she's not in it I Use it like a diaper bag for her when we go places. It holds her blankets toys extra food treats ect.
Things I wanted to know and were concerned about before I bought it. Its allot bigger than the ones you see at petsmart or petco the whole back is mesh so they can look out there is an adjustable strap that I attach to her harness in case she feels the need to base jump. The pockets are big and hold baggies of food, bottles of water ect. She curls up in it and sleeps when she's in the car in it. I wouldn't use it for anything more than a small or toy breed dog I have 2 full grown domestic house cats and both would fit but wouldn't be comfy. I have left her back pack beside her kennel and she hops on in the back pack and naps when she wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the house. The only complaint I have is the pack when it's on your back because the bottom is at the small of your back tilts forward slightly. My Husband is looking forward to using this in the summer on hiking trips for when she's tired and wants to nap he can toss her in the back pack and still have his hands free
