My sheltie loves this! Aug 04, 2007
By Mrs. Kilo Delta **UPDATE: May 2012** I still have this ball! It's about 7 years old and still in great shape. I have 2 shelties now - my older boy sheltie that I wrote about in my original review below has passed away, and now I'm the proud dog-mom to a 7 yr old girl sheltie (28 lbs) and a 4 year old boy sheltie (22 lbs). Even though they aren't big dogs, I'm glad I have the large size biscuit ball, it's a great size for them. I make homemade gluten-free biscuits for them these days, drying them so they're hard and crunchy and they don't fall apart easily. Because of this, the homemade biscuits work nicely in the biscuit ball as they're more difficult to get out of the ball compared to store bought biscuits.
**Original review** While dog biscuits don't last 5 minutes in this ball with my sheltie, this ball will keep my little boy busy for over half an hour when I fill it with mashed banana or other fruit, yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, or his "real meals", ground meat with veggies, and then freeze it (makes him work harder for the goodies inside). I then place it either on our enclosed concrete patio that I can hose off, or in his doggie "playpen" out on the lawn, and my little guy goes nuts for it. Excellent mental stimulation, and much better than him just snarfing up his food in 20 seconds from his food bowl. We've had this over a year and a half, with no signs of wear. AND, it cleans up in the dishwasher! Highly recommended.

Something for strong jaws Feb 06, 2008
By Austin Cherness So far, Kong has been the only long lasting toy for my 8 month old pit bull. Everything else is torn to shreds. This kong ball is great for fetch, or for him to just sit and chew on. There are too many holds in the ball that make it really easy for a treat to be eaten, and on top of that there is an extra large space that allows the treats to just fall out rather quickly.
Even though this ball is meant to hold treats as its main selling point, i would recommend using it as just a strong ball that your dog can play with and not destroy quickly.

Kong Large Biscuit Ball Apr 27, 2007
By K. Lue
"Kent"
I bought this Kong Biscuit Ball about two weeks ago for my newly-adopted German Shepherd Dog. My oberservations are:
1) The Kong is made from very solid and durable hard rubber.
2) The openings are large so it is easy to put in biscuits, but ordinary dog food will easily fall out.
3) My dog plays with the ball infrequently. Usually only when there are treats inside. However, I'm sure all dogs are different.
4) The Kong should last a long time even if it's constantly chewed on.

KONG Biscuit Ball Dog Toy Dec 30, 2009
By Bobb L. Bittner These are a big hit with my dogs. I fill them with soft dog food and freeze them overnight. I crate the dogs while I'm at work, and this gives them something to do. I like these better than the traditional KONG beehive shape because it seems like it is easier for the dogs to get the ball completely cleaned out. That means I don't have to worry about old bits of food being stuck inside and festering, even if I only wash them every couple of days.
The large ball holds a little over 1/2 can of dog food, and is probably appropriate for 50 to 90 pound dog. The small ball hold about 1/4 can, and is probably appropriate for anything smaller. By "appropriate" I mean that the ball is big enough for the dog to get its tongue into, but small enough to still be a bit of a challenge.
Also, and this is probably obvious, but make sure you get the "ground" dog food, not the stuff with chunks and juice.

Great toy for destructive dogs and the ball obsessed... Mar 09, 2009
By James Hogsett This ball is the only ball my cattle dog mix (50 lbs) can't destroy in under an hour. He is ball obsessed and this is his by far favorite toy. It takes him months to chew the ball apart between the bone shaped holes after daily use. I have never found another ball that holds up as long. It is approx. tennis ball sized and good for playing catch. I don't ever use the treat holes but it is a neat feature. The large one is fun too, but soft ball sized and not as easy to throw for catch. Probably good for a larger breed dog. The regular Kongs hold up well too. Bottom line if you have a chewer/destroyer get a Kong toy.
