The Regular Sand Perch from Insight by JW is designed specifically to help keep mess inside the cage. This perch is wider at the base and then gradually gets more slender as it extends into the cage. This keeps the bird perched on the middle to end rather than right near the side of the cage. The natural sand is part of the mold, not sprayed on and so is durable and comfortable for your bird. Suitable for parakeets and cockatiels and other similar sized birds.

My cockatiel is very picky about everything but he loved these new sand perches. I'm very pleased as well because his nails don't scratch me anymore. :)

The variable width provides grip exercise, and allows birds to customize their seating positions for maximum comfort. They're easy to install with ergonomic hand grips, and provide constant trims for their nails. Since switching to a nearly all-sand-perch environment in the flight cage, we've had no nails stuck in clothing or panic-stricken tripping. Great product; will buy again when they naturally wear out in several years.

I discovered these sand perches are just plastic with some kind of grit stuck on. I had to buff down because grit was to sharp for my birds feet - in doing so that is how I made this discovery. Unfortunately I bought a number of these thinking that they were in fact sand perches.
