Horsey Life saver! Oct 24, 2007
By Mrs. Lianne A. Bowman
"Follysmom"
I bought this muzzle for my rather stout and short Arab/Quarter Pony mare who gets fat just looking at food! This Fall we were showered with more acorns than I have ever seen in my life and my mare was eating so many she was showing signs of the beginning of founder. She also tends to get sick on the lush Spring grass so I thought I would give this thing a try. I was very apprehensive about using it. I felt like it was sort of cruel and that she would look like Hannibal. I got her used to it gradually by putting a few healthy treats in it and now she wears it almost all day, with no rubbing or chafing at all. Sometimes I see her trying to rub it off (she has not been able to do it so far). She is such a treat hog however that now when she sees me coming with it she runs to me and sticks her silly head right into it! She has lost some weight and she can be on the pasture with her buddy all day. I am thrilled I found it and gave it a try. It has changed our life. I highly recommend this product!

Excellent Product Apr 11, 2010
By Jennifer Horvath I've used this muzzle for 4 years now on a gelding that is extremely fuel efficient and will founder if allowed out to graze with the other horses. My vet recommended it to me as an alternative to keeping him in the paddock. Now he is able to be with the rest of the horses which also keeps him moving around all day. In early spring I still have to restrict the amount of time he is out, but for most of the year it allows him freedom. I've also purchased less a less expensive version, but he stepped on the base and ripped it completely out of the mesh basket on the very first day. The best friends muzzle lasts a long time, although eventually he will wear the opening in the base and make it larger. I usually need two per year. Also, it is important to check on your horse periodically because a clever fellow like mine will figure out how he can rub it over his ears on an obliging tree, and it has a very good breakaway clip so it will come off if the horse gets hung up. Still, it's an excellent sturdy product that does everything it is supposed to do and can make a life changing difference for you and your horse.

Best Friend is the BEST Jun 01, 2010
By S. Freeman I have some experience with muzzling horses, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that fit and quality matter. Best Friend grazing muzzles are the best brand I've ever tried by far.
My "easy keeper" Appy mare has been wearing the same Best Friend muzzle for three years in a row. It fits, it stays on, and it works! Initially I was concerned about the plastic hardware, but my fears proved unfounded -- it's tough stuff. She'll wear out the bottom before the hardware gives out.
I'd give this product 10 stars if I could. Seriously, it's that good.

Grazing Muzzle Aug 12, 2007
By Mary Trahan The fit is good. Wish the hole in the end was a bit larger, but with practice, our horse will adjust to this new thing.
The ONLY one to buy. Jun 10, 2011
By Jjanz The Best Friends muzzle is the only brand I will buy. It is the only one that lasts for several seasons. Love it!
