Working just like I wanted it to! Jan 03, 2007
By westielove This de-icer is keeping my 500 gallon pond at a consistant 48 degrees. Even on days where the temp dropped below freezing and my other pond froze over, the pond with the de-icer stayed 48 degrees. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that the metal guard around the heating element is getting very rusty. Other than that I'm very happy with it's performance.

Great Heaters Oct 30, 2009
By HLuebner I purchased two heaters for my pond/waterfall area. These heaters work excellently to heat each 1500 gallon pond.
So far one year it works well Mar 29, 2012

"Booob-a-licious"
It works so far for this year. I have left it in and the fish stay near it to stay warm on these spring days. We had a light winter though. My biggest complaint is that the gaurd rusts immediatly. It should of been made of stainless steel not cheap iron.
Broke after 90 days but worked well until then Feb 17, 2012
By GPS guy I've used the lower wattage heaters from the same firm and you'll notice that the Amazon reviews for them speak of short lives--that was my experience, too. I decided to try this one based upon the reviews but I bought a spare in case it broke during the winter--smart move on my part. I bought the first heater on November 19, 2011 and it tripped the GFI on February 17, 2012. Installed my back-up heater and it runs just fine on the same GFI. That's the problem I've had with this firm's products in the past--tripped GFIs. Naturally, using this in water it would be crazy to operate it without that safety (and likely unlawful, too). All of this aside, my pond is about 1,000 gallons and it has kept at least part of it open all winter in the Cleveland, Ohio area. We've had a warm winter in Cleveland 2011-2012 and the coldest it got was about 5 degrees. I'm going to order another spare heater because it keeps my fish and ducks happy--I just have to plan to use two a year (which is what I did with the lower wattage heaters). Naturally, the best place to buy these is at Amazon!
Pond De-icer Feb 16, 2011
By Char Love this pond de-icer! Even in below zero conditions, it kept the pond from freezing and the waterfall was flowing. I would recommend it to anyone.
