I Like This Seed Feb 05, 2011

This is a basically nice product that all sunflower-devouring birds and squirrels love. It's an attractive blend of Sunflower and Safflower seeds which gives the mix a black and white appearance. Which brings us to the two reasons that I've given the Cardinal Buffet only three stars.
The first reason is that this mix is very expensive when compared to just straight sunflower seeds. For the same price, you're likely to get 10 pounds of black-oiled sunflower seeds. And those seeds are likely to be of higher quality -- plumper and more 'meaty'.
The second reason I lowered the rating is that the list of ingredients is sort of misleading. It sounds like there should be golden raisins in this mix and peanuts, but honestly I've yet to see a raisin-like morsel. I searched through 3 cups of mix (chosen at random and glared at closely with my spectacles) and found only 2 half-peanut morsels. Sooo, there probably IS a raisin in the bag somewhere. It's just not worth my time to go through all 7 pounds of seed to confirm yay-or-nay.
CONCLUSION: I still buy Cardinal Buffet from time to time at the grocery store (where it is few bucks cheaper than here), but it's more to offer the Safflower seeds than with any expectation of seeing Raisins or peanuts.
