Durable and Clean Jan 25, 2008
By David Coleman I have been using my Eheim 2213 for 19 years now, and have never had to replace any parts, until now. It is an incredible filter, that keeps everything in the tank clear and fresh. The only complaint I have has already been fixed. The double shutoff connections that they've added will make cleaning it so much easier. 19 years ago, they didn't have these, but I may buy some extras. I've heard that the only downfall for Eheim is ordering replacement parts. The only thing needing replacement is the suction cups that hold the parts in place inside of the tank. Everything else is wonderful!
I would definitely recommend this to others. Especially with a good price for a canister filter.

excellent product Aug 02, 2007

Well-constructed filter that uses stainless steel clips to create a seal instead of plastic clips like every other filter manufacturer I've seen. I think the person below just had bad luck with the shipper to get the product broken on arrival.
I own several filters (Eheims, Fluvals, Penn Plax) and have found the Eheims to be the best - completely silent and well-constructed. The Pro Series is much easier to prime and perform maintenance on - and it's also more money. For the price, it's tough to beat this silent filter.

Totally silent! Dec 24, 2006
By A. R. Snyder

I love this filter! It keeps the water pristine and more importantly it is easy to assemble and clean thanks to the included double tap valves and media basket.
Silence was a key buying point for me as it was purchased for an aquarium in my bedroom. This filter is absolutely silent. So silent that I can now hear the hum of my fluorescent aquarium lights.

best filter for the money Apr 14, 2010
By K. Kramer The record February snow storm in Dallas cut power to the house and ended up killing our old, Eclipse 2 equipped, 30 gallon aquarium. The Eclipse 2 was ok, but the filter seemed to become full within 2-3 weeks.
We visited a local aquarium supply store, and the Eheim filters were very highly recommended. Unfortunately, the 2213 was priced about $50 more than I found it for on Amazon.
Our tank sits on a built in shelf in our TV room/den, and we were excited about moving the pump/filter to the shelf below the aquarium. It's a much quieter arrangement, as the pump/filter is concealed by books. Standing at the aquarium, there is a slight hum, but mostly what is heard is the water flowing through the tank pipes. With our 30 gallon aquarium, and a flow rate of 116 gph, the pump changes the water approximately 4 times per hour, keeping the water crystal clear.
As far a maintenance, it couldn't be easier. With the Elipse 2, there was a balancing act required to get the hood to the sink or tub without spilling any water. Now with the 2213, you shut the valves to and from the pump, unhook the quick connections, then you're able to take the pump to the sink, and change the filter media by releasing 4 quick-release tabs.
Even though the set-up instructions are not very detailed, I found the 2213 very easy to assemble and set up; I had the system operating about 30 minutes. If you have a stand aquarium or a shelf arrangement like ours, I think you will enjoy having a canister-type pump/filter, and I highly recommend the ease of operation and quality of Eheim products.

Great Filter Aug 22, 2009
By T. Reid This is a really nice filter. The instructions are a little vague but you can find a lot of instruction online. I was fortunate to have a friend who has one so I just asked him. It's almost silent, which is a nice change from the power filter I had before. I have it on a 42 gallon freshwater hex and it's keeping the watch crystal clear. I did have to cut the spray bar in order to get it to fit the side of my tank but I expected that since it's a hex.
When I first received it the media basket lid was broken. I emailed the seller, they told me to contact Eheim and they replaced the entire basket free of charge and it arrived in the mail within a couple days. I was very happy with the customer support. I'll definitely be buying Eheim products from now on.
