Decent quality, but overpriced Jun 22, 2011
By Rebecca These half chaps were nice in the fact that they were made of pretty soft leather, which means no break-in time and greater feel of the horse under your leg than you would have in a thicker chap.
The elastic on the chaps is of poor quality, and after only a month it started to show some buckling and signs that it may tear in the not-so-distant future.
The chaps keep your legs pretty warm, something which isn't recommended for Texas heat. It's not so noticeable when you're wearing them, but when you take them off you feel great relief.
These chaps are pretty decent overall, but they should cost a maximum of $45. I will probably only get about a year's use out of them. My last half chaps were Ariat Heritage II, and they lasted me about 4-5 years of riding 3-6 times/week before finally wearing out a bit too much. Next time, I will spend the extra money to get something of better quality that will last.
I don't really recommend these.
