Droll Yankees YCPT360 Yankee Tipper Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeder

The Yankee Tipper collapsible mechanical feeding tray is weight-activated using a patented Droll Yankees design. Song birds can eat, but a squirrel?s weight on the seed tray causes it to tip down. 21" long tubular feeder with 5 lb seed capacity. Sturdy stainless steel wire hanger will not rust. Metal cap fits snugly so that squirrels cannot pry it off. 4-1/2" diameter seed tube is made of UV stabilized polycarbonate for durability and holds about 4 quarts of seed. Tube is long enough so that squirrels can?t hang down from the top and reach seed. Interior is properly baffled to direct seed to the seed ports. Four seed ports are positioned around the tube. Metal parts have a midnight black finish.

  • 5-pound-capacity feeder with 21-inch-long seed tube made of UV stabilized polycarbonate

  • Weight-activated collapsible feeding tray automatically resets when squirrel falls off

  • Simple to fill; metal cap fits snugly; interior baffle design directs seeds freely to 4 seed ports

  • Comes fully assembled; designed for hanging only

  • Measures 21 by 4-3/4 inches; lifetime limited warranty

3Not entirely squirrel proof  Jun 06, 2007
By David
Squirrels quickly learn to brace themselves against the lip of the tray. As suggested, you can invert the seed tray but my squirrels still find a way to hang on and can feed for a few minutes at a time.

5Squirrels have left!  Aug 18, 2009
By F. Nordeen "Fred"
Our previous bird feeder, despite cones and shields on the pole, always had 5 to 8 squirrels -- crowding out the birds. Now we enjoy birds only -- all squirrels have left! Also, the large capacity means I only fill it every 3 to 4 days. I plan to buys another one for a different part of the yard. The only drawback is the price -- a lot to pay for a bird feeder.

5Fill It Up and Let the Frustrated Squirrels Entertain You  Mar 08, 2007
By Carl B
This device works as designed. It is very entertaining to watch the squirrels try to figure out a way to get to the seed (they can, but only a few seeds at a time). It works so well that my wife feels sorry for the squirrels and fills a squirrel feeder so they won't starve during the winter.

4Great Product but can't find parts  Jul 03, 2011
By D. robinson
I think that this feeder is one of the best for keeping squirrels out of the bird seed. I do have a couple of squirrels who have mastered the art of hanging on with their teeth and claws for a few minutes to eat out of the holes, but still find it to be the best so far. Most of the squirrels are content to eat any seed dropped on the ground underneath the feeder. I do have one PROBLEM, however and that is that the tray has come off several times and is now completely gone.

I have tried to find a replacement part online so that the birds will have a place to perch and cannot. I don't think that this should be so difficult to find. This product started loosing the tray no matter how tightly I attached it a two months of use.

5great feeder for birds, not squirrels  Feb 28, 2009
By mary
this is a great bird feeder for all types of birds, and the squirrels cannot get to it. the bottom flips them right off - well, something like that. the company shipped it out faster than requested and customer service is great. highly recommend.
