4The Lifetime Warranty Makes it Worth the Price  Dec 25, 2009
By B. League
Solidly built, attractive thistle feeder and just like all other Droll Yankees products, it includes a lifetime warranty - IT EVEN COVERS SQUIRREL DAMAGE!

The only reason I did not give this unit five stars is because I don't feel that the metal bands do anything to prevent squirrel damage. There is a large enough gap around the feed wholes that those tree rats can still grab onto with their claws and teeth and tear it apart.

Don't let this discourage you from purchasing it though - the tube is made of much more durable materials than their competitors. I had two of the Droll Yankees thistle feeders without the metal bands and it took the squirrels about 10 years to get into them. I called Droll Yankees and they sent me two new tubes free of charge - even free shipping. No questions asked and I didn't have to provide paperwork or anything!

One note about this model - when you first examine it, it appears that there is a hole (the hole is to mount it on a pole or mount a seed tray) in the bottom that all the seed will spill out of. Look above that and you will notice that the see compartment is sealed off above that - it's just hard to see at first glance.

5Finch Bird Feeder  Nov 02, 2009
By S. Latman
This is the 2nd Yankee Droll (TH3 16" Finch bird feeder we've gotten, not because the first failed, but because we have had such good service from the first, no clogging, no moisture inside, no cracking, etc., so we ordered another for a 2nd location.

5Great thistle feeder  Sep 16, 2009
By nature lover "nature lover"
This is a great thistle feeder. The birds love it.

It is also relatively good on reducing squirrel losses. As long as the metal protection is on, the squirrels do not seem to get much out of it. They managed to get the top protector off and gnawed the holes bigger, so they can steal some seed from them.

5Foiled Squirrels!  Sep 06, 2009
By Nonna Jean
Hurray! We finally have a bird feeder that has puzzled (and hopefully eliminated) the squirrel population in our yard. Yes, they did find a way to jump up from a low bush to a high tree (where the feeder was hanging) but once there they were unable to get enough feed to feel that the jump - and then the fall to the ground- was worth the effort. Thank you Droll Yankees!
