1The squirrels love it  Jun 27, 2008
By T. Harper
This feeder is labeled "squirrel proof," but in three weeks, it has been used almost exclusively by squirrels, who cling upside down to the bottom and feed at will! The only bird I've seen use this feeder was a Carolina wren, and that was only once. Nuthatches and woodpeckers check it out but so far have refused to go through the outer cage or access the suet from the bottom. I can probably deter the squirrels by putting a piece of wood on the bottom of the inner cage that holds the suet, but if the birds still won't use the feeder, it will turn out to have been a waste of money.

4Wire Suet Feeder  Mar 20, 2008
By C. Macey
This suet holder was not totally Starling Proof. Though they could not get inside, they did crawl around to the bottom and hung upside down to get at the suet. I had been told they wouldn't do that, hang upside down that is- well, they did. So the maker of this item can not claim that it is Starling proof.
