Wow I have had freshwater tanks for over 30 years but have never had a "good" light until I decided to spend the $$ for this one. My water looks clearer and the neon tetras look, well.. neon! Lamp gets warm but that just means heater runs less. I opted for the single strip light as shown. The dual unit had fans and I was worried about the noise. Well made light with readily available square base bulb. Best looking addition to any freshwater tank!

I have 4 of these lights. I was in love with them and bought two more at the end of last year. Then two lights, both almost 4 years old, suddenly went dead within a couple months of each other. The ballasts went bad right around the same time, and the replacement part recently doubled to about $60.
After contacting Coralife twice, I have yet to hear from them. I'm suspecting that the ballasts are designed to go out every few years.

I always liked Coralife products.Its perfect for my 30 gallon long freshwater fish tank. This is my first time purchasing through Amazon.com and I'll do it again. Besides the savings, it came well packaged, and arrived as stated with no hassels.
