If you need the clicker & treats - why not just treats? Jun 02, 2010 If you need the clicker & treats - why not just treats?
I assumed that the clicker was used for bad behavior, not to reward good behavior. A treat & a good boy is enough for our dogs for good behavior. I need to turn the bad behavior around. Sorry I bought this product.
great book May 13, 2010 one of the clicker training fundamentals. If you have never done it it is totally worth trying but I recommend working for at least 1 session with a trainer or watching demos on DVD (or even youtube) because timing and technique are everything and if you are off this can be ineffective or even counter productive. Once you get the general technique of marking behaviors and shaping and luring then books like this can be very helpful.
Clicking with your dog Mar 27, 2010 The book gives excellent advice on how to clicker train your dog. It's informative and concise in the instructions. I'd recommend clicker training to anyone; whether the dog is a puppy or older.
Finally something you can actually use... Jan 25, 2010 When buying this offline I was a little skeptical, but then I did more research on it and talked to some others who had used it and talked to my vet who not only had used it but has met the author. Anyhow I decided to give the book a try and does it work ever so well.
The pictures are easy to follow. The commands are not overwhelming.
This book is great for beginners like myself with a stubborn Chi.
This book is a great investment not only in your life but your dogs too.

Fast training with this fun book Dec 15, 2009 I got this book with my new puppy and was tremendously impressed with how fast she learned to do things. It works great to tell her when she is doing the right thing. I wore my clicker attached to my belt loop all of the time when she was young but only take it out now when I want to try to teach a new trick (She is now 2 years old). She perks up immediately because she has learned how to learn and that learning new things is fun. People are always impressed when she picks up her toys and returns them to the basket. She can weave through my legs as I walk, go in reverse, spin, play dead, and do all of the standard things like go to her mat, sit, beg, lie down, roll over, open a door, and many other things.
This book works mainly by drawings so you know right away what to do. I loved it and sent a copy to my nephew as soon as I heard he had gotten a puppy.
If you want more words and background information, then buy The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson The Culture Clash: A Revolutionary New Way to Understanding the Relationship Between Humans and Domestic Dogs. I would start with Clicking with Your Dog first or get both at the same time.
