The green polyester side helps repel wind and water to keep dogs dry and safe from the elements, while the soft fleece side traps body heat to provide a den of snuggly comfort. We had to return this item. It was way too long for our smooth coat collie. She takes a large in a coat from Four Paws, but the sides on the Four Paws coat are much shorter. The merchant did not give us any problem with the return but it is better to get dog coats the day after Thanksgiving at a pet store with the dog present. Prices are better and the fit is correct.
