Great looking bird feeder. Aug 30, 2005
By J. Sorrentino This is a great looking bird feeder. It attracts a variety of small and large birds, and holds enough food for about a week in my yard.
I made the mistake of thinking the bars would make it squirrel proof, but it isn't in the least. In fact, they have figured out how to jump to the feeder and wedge their entire bodies inside the bars! Impressively acrobatic, but very annoying. I finally moved the bird feeder to another spot because they were bending the bars and it was just a matter of time before they completely destroyed it.
So, I definitely recommend this bird feeder, but make sure you put it in a place where the squirrels can't reach it, or they will break it for sure.

Pretty and sturdy Dec 09, 2006
By Pumpkin I've had this feeder for about 5-6 years. It is very pretty and it does keep out squirrels and large birds. The finches, wrens and smallest woodpeckers can fit through the bars. Birds are safe from the neighborhood cats. It holds enough seed to last a few days. The feeder has held up well and the only noticeable wear is on the metal lid where the protective coating has peeled off a bit. That is understandable as it has withstood rain, snow, high winds and scorching sun for several years. None of the panes has broken, discolored or loosened. Even the hanging wire is like new. I paid over $60 for this feeder and highly recommend it.

Pretty But Not Perfect Oct 14, 2008
By bookfan The glass roof pieces on mine surprisingly are a variated sky blue, not orange. Nevertheless, still pretty - but it would have been nice to have a color choice.
I purchased this on October 6, 2008 for $14.23 from Amazon (no shipping fee since I ordered something else to meet the $25 minimum requirement). I guess they must have had a special sale going. So for that cheap price, I am very pleased - it is worth more than that.
The feeder was in good condition but arrived dusty - no big deal to me, but if your order is intended as a gift, just wanted you to be aware of that.
The reason I only give 4 stars is because I am going to have to do something to keep the lid of the feeding tube closed - it does not screw or clamp down so tends to pop open very easily. So I have not begun to use mine yet. The box says it holds 1.25 lbs of sunflower or mixed seed and "Durable metal cage with rust resistant finish discourages squirrels and larger birds." I have large Fox Squirrels where I live so am not sure if they can squeeze in between the bars or not, but I will place it where it will be hard for the squirrels to reach or I will use a squirrel baffle if necessary.
*This is pretty enough to purchase to use as a decorative item for your porch, garden or sun room and not even use as a birdfeeder at all. Ivy wrapping around it could add a nice touch.

Looks don't last forever.... Jun 11, 2006

This is a nice looking bird feeder....and it keeps the squirrels at bay. But beware...in about 6 months the pretty panes of glass (the roof) will fall off. The birds will still come, but the pretty part is no more.

nice, like the glass, bottom could be better to save seed from dropping, but i'm sure the birds will love it.
