Pretty good for the money Jun 20, 2010
By Jackie I got mine in a plant tank kit. The filter seems to do a great job. My water is crystal clear, and I've had mine running for 10+ months. I've had many generations of guppies. Also my tank was incredibly overpopulated and still, the filter did a fenomenal job. I love it. When I added the substrate, ActivFlora it took care of the silt/cloudiness in the water. The combination of healthy water and good filtration makes an entirely healthy system. I hardly do water changes or maintenance aside from changing the filter cartridge.

Works as Advertised Sep 26, 2009

I have two of these filters - one installed on a 10 gallon and the other on a 20 gallon tank.
These work great with little maintenance needed on my part. Just clean the end of the pickup tube from time to time and change the filter cartridge when needed and you are all set. Changing the cartridges is very easy and not messy. Cleaning the pickup tube does require pulling the end off, rinsing it out and reinstalling. I have yet to have to remove the filter completely from the tank (after more than a year of use).
The cartridges last a reasonable amount of time as I am getting between 4 and 5 weeks of use out of them before they need replacing.
Overall, no complaints here - works just like the Aqueon says it does!

Great filter Mar 22, 2011
By Carol Teshera I have this filter on a 30 gal tank and will get another for my 10. It keeps the water very clear.

Great product! Oct 19, 2010
By Eric Qiu The Aqueon Power Filter 20 is an excellent filter. The filtration mechanisms include a mechanical screen that fits over a carbon-activated filter cartridge. This screen prevents large and medium sized materials from clinging to the carbon filter.
The quietness of the filter is another strong point. Using a special piece that fits right in front of the carbon filter, the Aqueon Power Filter 20 allows for the falling water to enter the aquarium quietly while maximizing aeration.
This is a great filter for aquarium hobbyists that have tanks anywhere from 10-30 gallons.

problems with most all filters Sep 14, 2011
By Kenneth A. Smith I have the 55/75 and only had it a short while. it has never missed a lick. i moved the whole tank to another room a week ago and when i plugged the filter in.... well,,,,, it fired right up. However now that i read these post i am a little concerned as the reason i am here now is to purchase one for another tank. However after thinking so hard my brain was smoking i came to this conclusion,!! I have been owning aquariums for past 25 years now and used every brand of filters and i have been stuck on emperior 400 for a long time but i have many of those and every other brand, out in garage not in use due to noise, bad motors, low flow and many broke due to me smacking them on the wall to get them started again. so if this aqueon is having the problems listed in these posts then rest assured their not alone cause all filters share this problem. buy what makes you happy and replace it when it dies. if it dies early then get a free replacment 100% of everything you own in your life will have a simular complaint from someone on a reveiw post somewhere lets face it...its a machine made by humans :)
