Rabbit loves it! Nov 09, 2009 I am always looking for something to both amuse my Lionhead rabbit and encourage chewing for healthy teeth. My rabbit is a small/medium breed and she is easily bored when in her cage. She is also extremely reluctant to try new things. I decided to try this product mainly because of the low price and free Amazon shipping.
When I received this item, I was pleased by the size of each treat which is almost 3 inches long by 3/4 in. at the widest point. Sweet Alfalfa scent when you open the bag. Color looks normal to me, dark orange like in the item picture. As I expected, my rabbit took about a day before deciding to give the carrot treat a nibble. Once she tried it however, she loved it! It took her all day (and most of the night) to eat the entire treat. My bunny gets very excited when she sees me getting her a new carrot treat and I am very pleased that she loved this treat so quickly.
If you have a rabbit who likes to chew, this is a fun way to satisfy that need, help promote healthy teeth and the price is about right. I agree with the Amazon product description: * Two of rabbits favorite nutritious treats, alfalfa and carrots pressed into a carrot shape. * Promotes natural chewing instinct.
The main ingredients listed are Dried Alfalfa & Dehydrated Carrot.
The Nutritional Analysis from the back of the package:
Crude Protein (Min.) 3.0%
Crude Fat (Min.) 0.1%
Crude Fiber (Max.) 12%
Moisture (Max.) 14%
PROS:
* Satisfies chewing needs
* Keeps rabbit busy chewing for a day or more
* Adorable Carrot design & good size
* Smells like Alfalfa
* Good price & Value
CONS:
* None so far. I am very pleased with this product and my rabbit loves it!
Carrot and Alfalfa Twist Nov 29, 2008 Not at all pleased with this product ordered from amazon. Yes I have purchased this product many times in the past from places such as Walmart/Petsmart and they have always been a hit with my bunny!!
The product I rec'd was a dark brown off color compared to the orange color when purchased elsewhere. I was hesitant about giving these to my bunny as they appeared to be old and stale.. Thought I would give it a try. Bunny was not happy with them and ate them begrudgingly. I still have a couple left and plan to throw them away. The product is made in china so beware.
I have now started purchasing the product at Walmart and PetSmart again. I need to find another alternative altogether..(Something that is not made in china) However this may be hard to do as my bunny enjoys the product and it is good for his teeth.
Great for pet Rabbits! Aug 14, 2008 8in1 Wacky Wabbit Carrot & Alfalfa Twist, 2-Ounce This is an EXCELLENT treat for rabbits! Our rabbit loves to chew these, and since they are much harder then fresh carrots, it takes her all day to finish one.
only good for rabbits, not guinea pigs Mar 26, 2008 In the description the product claims its also ideal for guinea pigs. No way, my guinea pigs were dumping their bowl just to get the wacky wabbit food out of it. These guinea pigs appear to eat anything and everything, but they wouldnt touch those carrot sticks. It might be good for rabbits but guinea pigs dont like them.
