Double the fun for pet RATS! Jul 12, 2007

On the Petco website, some folks said they were disappointed because their small birds totally ignored the Goof Balls. I'm sorry about that, but I'm happy to report my RATS love them!! :)
First, my boys Blueberry & Jellybean like the balls because the rawhide strips are fun to gnaw, and as we all know, rats love to gnaw! (It's also important to gnaw, as rats' teeth never stop growing). Second, they have fun using their teeth and/or their little paws to get the sweet birdseed mixture out from inside! They ate all the birdseed, so I guess it's a good-tasting mixture. I gave one ball to the two boys, and they even took turns carrying it around the cage and playing keep-away! (I almost thought they'd have a FIGHT over it!)
I'd definitely recommend the Goof Balls to anyone who has rats! :) The small size, that is; I think the larger Goof Balls might be too big. The only down-side of this product is that once the rats "break into" the seed mixture, it tends to fall out of the ball. But there's still some that remains inside to keep their interest. And even when empty, the rawhide is still fun -- my boys really enjoy just sitting and gnawing away at it!
More for play? Dec 12, 2010
By J. DeFelice We bought a package of these for our Parakeet Oscar. He has yet to actually eat any of the seed, but he LOVES playing with them! One hangs off the side of his cage, and if you go near it, he starts playing with it and wants us to play, too.
Perhaps a larger bird would actually try to eat it. So for food, it doesn't work for our bird. As a toy, thumbs up!
